As preparations continue for this year’s PFM Partnership Awards, Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) has been confirmed as the Gold Sponsor.

ISE is an internationally-renowned exhibition of an extensive range of technology and equipment, including audio visual, meeting room, integration and energy management systems, with many additional areas, all of which are of major interest to the FM sector.

Next year will see the fourth consecutive Hosted Buyers Trip sponsored by ISE, which will see PFM Magazine gather a group FMs to spend two days visiting the exhibition at The Rai, Amsterdam, along with 80,000 visitors, to visit a selection of the 900+ exhibitors.

We spoke to ISE managing director Mike Blackman and asked if the sponsorship of the PFM Awards is a first and how he sees this progressing in the future.

“We have a long history of sponsoring or supporting awards – not least the Inavation Awards, which IML [the publisher of PFM Magazine] organises and which have taken place during ISE since 2007. However, this is the first time that we have sponsored awards in the facilities management sector.

“It’s an acknowledgement of the fact that ISE is attracting increasing numbers of attendees from outside the AV channel – AV end-users, in our jargon.

“Facilities managers and building managers are an important end-user group for us – as evidenced by our support of a Special Interest Group organised by PFM each year since ISE 2017,” said Mr Blackman.

When questioned about the main points of synergy between ISE and the PFM Awards, Mr Blackman replied:

“Both events are essential destinations for professionals in their respective fields. “By bringing together the top players in the facilities management industry, the PFM Awards are an excellent opportunity for networking – just like the ISE show and the many conferences, receptions and co-located events that take place over a week in Amsterdam in February,” he said.

Mr Blackman also provided advice on how FMs and building managers can benefit from visiting ISE 2020, which runs from 11 to 14 February:

“There are many different kinds of technologies and solutions at ISE 2020 to capture the imaginations of facilities managers and building managers. There are digital signage systems that communicate corporate messages in the reception area and elsewhere; these can also tie into room booking systems.

“There are unified communications systems that aid collaboration and productivity in boardrooms, meeting rooms and huddle spaces – and also enable staff to work remotely and reduce pressure on corporate space.

“And then there’s the whole area of smart building, with solutions that detect the presence of individuals and anticipate their needs to create a frictionless experience, while also ensuring that usage of resources is optimised,” said Mr Blackman.
